A hive where creativity connects us.
I’m Ali Mutch
a mum, creative, and long-time lover of the arts. With over 30 years in television, drama, and photography, I know firsthand the power of creativity to bring people together.
I wanted to create a relaxing space to explore, to make, to play. A hub where curiosity becomes craft and fun is had. An Art Hive that can then become a platform – a place to exhibit, to celebrate, and even sell what has been created.
Our Heart & Mission
At The Hive, creativity is about more than just making, it’s about connecting, uplifting, and giving back. Every workshop, class, and creation is part of something bigger: a place where art and kindness meet.
As part of this mission, every person who enters The Art Hive will drop a little fuzzy bee into our handmade hive. When the hive fills up, we will donate $500 to a charity of choice, beginning with the Starlight Foundation, and then continuing with causes handpicked by our attendees. It’s a simple act, but together, those little bees create a big impact.
Through Bee Charmed and The Hive’s buzzing community, we support local causes with heart.
Just like the bees who inspired our name, we believe small acts, a charm chosen with care, a brushstroke on a canvas, a coin or a fuzzy bee placed with love can build something extraordinary.
The Hive is a space to Create & Connect where everyone belongs, where imagination is celebrated, and where giving back is woven into everything we do.

Hazel enjoys creating colourful and contemporary glasswork, sun catchers, jewellery, and 3D objects. Infusing each hand-crafted piece with ethereal beauty and soul, her hope is always to spark a quiet moment of daily joy for those who encounter or collect her work.
Originally from Scotland, Hazel moved with her family to Western Australia in October 2023. Working from her cosy home studio, she finds deep peace and rhythm in the creative process, a connection that began in childhood and has threaded through her life ever since. She studied at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design and the Slade School of Fine Art, graduating from the University for the Creative Arts in 2006.
After a 17-year hiatus from art (with a small sidestep into silversmithing), Hazel returned to making in 2023 while navigating the sudden loss of her Mum, a moment that marked both a personal and artistic re-awakening. A beginners fusing workshop and a stained-glass star lesson from her beloved Uncle sparked the beginning of her glassmaking journey; since then, she has remained largely self-taught, exploring the wonderfully diverse and limitless possibilities of glass.
Through this emerging practice, Hazel has gently opened her heart to the meaningful connections found and fostered within creative communities and is looking toward the future with optimism. She is inspired by the light and dark of life, the ‘salty & healing’ sea of Wardandi Boodja, ephemeral beauty in nature, the lyrics of Scott Hutchison, and a general sense of existential awe.
